Nuku — earth.

Rich, grounded and quietly powerful, Nuku draws from the vast landscapes of Central Otago, where mountains rise in layers of ochre, clay and stone and rivers carve their way through the land.

There is strength in this painting. Deep earthy tones anchor the landscape, while softer rose, mineral and sun-warmed hues move across the hills, creating a sense of depth and distance. Through it all, the river winds — a cool ribbon of movement held between the weight and permanence of the land.

Nuku speaks to our connection with the earth beneath us. To whenua as something enduring and elemental — a place that holds us, grounds us and reminds us where we stand.

Warm yet bold, this is a painting with presence. A landscape that feels both expansive and deeply anchored.
